My Story

I will be completing various outdoor challenges across summer 2021, solo and with others, to raise money for peatland restoration.

My whole life I have lived on the edge of the Peak District and spent many free moments exploring it, by foot or bike, solo and with company.

Experiencing the Saddleworth moorland fires of 2018, which burnt to within hundreds of metres of my house was an abrupt awakening to what I have taken for granted - healthy, safe moors that not only are my amazing playground for fellrunning but also a rich, vital home for blanket bog wildlife which stores huge amounts of carbon and water!

I want to raise money and critically, awareness for this seriously AMAZING place, for its value as a recreational resource for humans but also it's intrinsic value for simply existing.

Specifically, I plan to work closely with Moors For The Future to support their admirable efforts! I have some experience myself from the Dovestone Youth Rangers with our efforts featuring on Countryfile, as well as delivering a speech to the Head of the National Parks in 2014.

This is very close to my heart.

For that reason I want to combine my two loves - the environment and running! The name Bog Siren is simple - I am 'luring' the millions of people bordering the Peak District, to explore their playground whilst raising the alarm for the protection of our blanket bogs which make up 13% of global blanket bog!
