- My Story
It's been a while since I took on an a big challenge. So here's one with a twist... On 27 June 2020 (delayed one week from my original planned date) I'll set off on my bike just before 5am (dawn, yawn), and take a very looooooong and hilly ride around the Peak District until sunset at about 9.30pm.
I'll take with me a collapsable litter picker and a roll of rubbish bags and en route throughout the day will aim to collect litter en route; rubbish that sadly seems to blight our beloved National Park at the moment. I'll fill a bag and note where I leave it, and with the help of a team of helpers (can you lend a hand?) it will later be collected and disposed of.
And then I'll get back on my bike and cycle on, to find more rubbish, while enjoying the very best views the Park can can offer, powered by good coffee, scones and hopefully some Bakewell tart.
Why am I doing this? Well, three reasons; 1) I love cycling in the Peak, 2) I love the Peak District National Park and want to fundraise for the Peak District National Park Foundation which is working hard to protect it (full disclosure, I am a Trustee!) and 3) I want to raise awareness of the litter problem and encourage everyone to do something to help keep the Peak special for everyone to enjoy.
Please support me. Donating what you can afford would be so much appreciated, but if you can't do that then please do share the link to my page and help spread the word to people you know, who love the Peak District and the countryside and want to keep it special.
Thank you for all your support and for spurring me on to Spin and Bin as much as I can on 27 June!
